He was ranked as high as #2 in the ITF world rankings in 2010. He was runner-up at the US Open Junior event that year. Dennis discusses his career from the time that he was a young junior player til today as a professional. He talks about his thought process when he was starting out as a player and his relationship with his father, mother and his coach. At a young age, he actually suggested to his parents that they stay at home and let him take care of his own tennis game. He said that he found strength in doing this. He gives his coach, Frank Salazar, a lot of credit for doing the right things emotionally and mentally as a youngster. He said that Frank took no short cuts, but rather never let wins go to his head, while not allowing losses to go to his heart. Dennis talked in length about his experiences of playing against Andy Roddick and Roger Federer for the first time. Frank Salazar came on at the end of the show to talk from his perspective about Dennis. Frank talked about Dennis’ work ethic and his tremendous drive and determination to be the best that he can be.
